THE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN
OF SOUL,
ANDRÉ PITRE WITH MORRIS CHESTNUT IN
MOST ANTICIPATED
STAGEPLAY EVER—
LOVE
IN THE NICK OF TYME
A play by NAACP, 5-time award winning playwright,
David
E. Talbert
LOS ANGELES,
CA, December 15, 2006 — Brace
yourself because beginning January 11, 2007 at Houston’s Hobby Center,
The “Southern Gentleman of Soul,” André Pitre, begins
his nationwide tour with the stageplay, Love in the Nick of Tyme starring
famed heartthrob
Morris Chestnut. This all-star urban cast also includes R & B recording
artist Avant and Ellia English of The Jaime Foxx Show. All the music
is written and
produced by the amazingly talented Vivian Green, allowing
Pitre to serenade the audience with his entrancing vocals.
In partnership with BET and UrbanWorks, ‘NICK OF TYME’ is
noted to be the most widely promoted touring musical in the history
of urban
theatre.
and written and directed by NAACP, 5-time award winning playwright,
David E. Talbert the play is pegged for success and expected to capture
the
attention of audiences all across the nation.
Love in the Nick of Tyme is a triumphant story of love, forgiveness,
and finding the love you truly deserve. Pitre plays the role of Harvey — the boy next
door turn the man right under your nose. Pitre’s natural southern gentleman
style lends itself to this down-to-earth role as he lassos the ladies on the
stage and off, with his stunning good looks, down home charm, and seductive singing
voice. “This play comes just in the ‘nick of time,’ laughs
Pitre, I’ve been praying for just the right opportunity to share my gifts
with the world. To say I’m excited is an understatement.”
Though he is an extremely talented actor, Pitre’s first love is music. “By
the time I was 4 I knew I wanted to sing,” recalls Pitre. Before he could
utter a full sentence, the talented kindergartner was the smallest yet most
boisterous
member of his
church youth choir.
As he belted out soul-wrenching solos on bended knee, he could
barely reach the mic but he had no problem reaching the hearts
of every teary-eyed listener
in the crowd. With already one nomination as the NAACP Image Award’s
Best Male Lead in a Theatrical Play, Pitre has “wowed” the men
and “wooed” the
women with his soulful, sultry style that brings the crowd to tears
and to cheers.
Today, Pitre has the same effect on spectators of all backgrounds.
Pitre has performed at several hot spots including L.A.’s, Sunset Room, The El
Ray Theatre with Steve Harvey, The Friar’s Club, Stevie’s on the
Strip, Lucy Florence, Shabazz, The Splash Club, The Orchid Café and
many more. Most recently he rocked the National Anthem, opening for
the Lakers at the Staple Center in Los Angeles.
To his credit, he has made appearances on the Houston’s Benson
and Hedges Tour with Phil Perry, Jeffrey Osborne, Najee, Morris Day
and the Time, Frankie
Beverly and Maze, John P Kee, George Clinton and Aaron Hall, to name
a few. His television appearances include The Steve Harvey Show,
Moesha, The Parkers,
and
recently, Eve.
Pitre is currently in the studio working on his debut album
scheduled to be released in the late spring
of ’07.
Love in the Nick of Tyme will tour New York, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta,
and Washington D.C. and several other cities. For more information
